My name is Emma Morton and I’m so genuinely pleased to have you here.
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist based in England who uses Cognitive-Behavioural strategies to support people experiencing difficulties with their mental health. I currently offer sessions on Wednesdays via videocall using MS Teams. My approach to therapy reflects my personality in many ways with people describing our sessions as refreshingly informal, supportive to self-discovery, and even fun with a playful vibe (when the times call for it!).
As a late-diagnosed Autistic and non-binary person my areas of interest have gravitated towards working with our LGBTQIA+ community (including a gender-affirming approach) and our neurodivergent community. Although everyone’s experience in life is different clients have previously described feeling at ease with me knowing we have likely shared similar experiences. I have a pre-existing dialogue of certain community-specific concepts such as shutdown versus meltdown, alexithymia, gender dysphoria, and gender euphoria.
These aren’t my only areas of interest though! I am a naturally curious person with a special interest in the psychology of people, which is a strength I will bring to our work together. Personally attending therapy was the best thing I ever did for my wellbeing and quality of life, and it is now my goal to create a safe therapy space for us to explore, discover, learn, and practice skills/strategies that work for you.
As a person who has previously experienced and sought therapy for depression and anxiety, I can appreciate that you may be experiencing many feelings about the possibility of starting therapy. Hopefully on this website you will find everything you need to know to make an informed decision around our working together, though if you do have any questions then please do contact me as I’m always happy to chat.
